Overall I found it good, I'll give it around a 7/10.īTW my friend told me to play Kiwami first, but when look online 99% of people say to start with 0 cause it's a prequel. Maybe 2-3 standout ones out of the ones I did, most of them were forgettable. ![]() Out of the ones I played (about 20-25 or so), most of them were various people trying to scam or con you, and that got old fast. are a big meh, I dont feel one way or the other. There were some growing pains in the traversal, the random encounter gangs were way too frequent and that annoyed me towards the end, and in a good chunk of the story, the two locations you travelled the most to were on opposite corners of the map. Remove him from the game and the game only gets better. When he kidnapped Karuka JUST so he can fight Kiryu for fun, I had my mind made up right there. All his parts feel isolated from the rest of the game, and despite having a good amount of screen time he was irrelevant as hell to the actual plot. During the middle hours you sorta take a detour and do what feel like side quests that barely relate to actual main plot, while some stuff integral to main plot, like Jingu, feel a little undercooked.Īlso, this Majima character is really bad, all of his parts dont even feel like they belong in the game. I think Kiryu gets knocked down to the floor way too much and that became a nuisance as well. It's an absolute pain to fight most of them, and whenever I thought I just did the worst boss fight, the next one turns out to be even fucking worse. Maybe it's just me needing to "git gud", but I found their entire design to be complete bullshit and really tedious, not "hard" in a good way. Kiryu himself at first had zero appeal to me, but he grew on me as the game progressed (mostly cause there were more parts of him showing actual emotion in the end). I also like characters, like Date, The Florist, and Haruka (her running off and getting kidnapped multiple times was annoying tho). His descent from throughout the years in which Kiryu was in jail for was particularly well done, and completely understood his motivation (even if he didn't have a whole lot of screen time outside of the flashback scenes). The story is really cool, especially Nishikiyama, the main villain. These side activities, are surprisingly well done too, for example Billiards is surprisingly deep with it's mechanics for being a minigame within a game. ![]() It's lovingly detailed and really sells the urban jungle vibe, from bustling big streets to narrow dark alleyways. Kamurocho is small but dense with activities and things to do. The different Kiryu fighting styles are interesting and help break up the monotony when it's starts getting repetitive. It was an absolute blast most of the time, I enjoy the brawler gameplay (with a few exceptions). Played and finished Yakuza Kiwami over the last couple weeks (Friend told me to start with that one)
